Nara Narayan Seva is a very sacred Seva. The aims and objective of this Seva is distribution of free food to the people in different occasions. By this Seva, the doner gets full satisfaction when the receiver , the people who takes food, say no more required when they feel complete satiate. As per the Taittiriya Upanishad, Food is called as ‘Annam Brahma’ because, in Hinduism, food is considered a manifestation of Brahma, the creator, as it sustains all life and is the source of physical strength and well-being. The phrase "Annam Brahma, raso Vishnu, bhokta devo Maheswara" (food is Brahma, its essence is Vishnu, and the consumer is Maheswara) is a traditional prayer or mantra that emphasizes the sacredness of food and the process of consuming it. During Rass Purnima (Kartik Purnima), twelve thousand people take free food siting in the temple complex and the entire foods are donated by the people of Kharagpur town and its outskirt. Besides that occasion, the devotees, most of the time, come forward to perform such Nara Narayan Seva in the temple throughout the year. If anyone desires so, he/she may contact with the temple manager well before the programme. Giving to the temple can also be viewed as a responsibility to share prosperity and support the welfare of the community and those in need.
