The Jagannath Mandir in Kharagpur boasts a stunning architecture enriched with intricate carvings, iconography, and spirituals themes, including erotic kama and maithuna scenes. The Singha Dwar (Lions Gate) stands in the entrance, which is the southern side of the temple. The entire body of the Lions Gate is a classic illustration of the Odisha style of Architecture. There are two lions made of sand stone sit in the front gate. There are the deities of Nabagrah and Dash Avatar at the top of the Gate. The door of the Lion gate is made of wood covered with the brass plate. There are some deities made of brass clung to the door. The deity, Maha Laxmi sits on the top of its front door and the inner side of the door are dedicated to Prabhu Patitapaban and Bajranbali in adherence to the customs and traditions of Jagannath Dham, Puri.
There is a 120 feet long road stretching from Singh Dwar to the main temple and touches the sacred Baisi Pahacha (twentytwo- Steps).The left side of the road, there is an office room and behind the office, there are Association’s meeting room and staff’s residences attached therewith a staff’s kitchen and dining.

The wash rooms for the public are also available there to serve the need of the people. The Temple’s Bhog and Handicraft counter are situated at the right side of the road for providing better facilities and conveniences to the devotees as well as visitors.
There are two temples named Kashi Biswanath and Kanchi Ganesh situated at the left and right side of the Baisi Pahachar espectively.
The temple is a two-story structure, with the ground floor dedicated to the prasad seva for the devotees and on the first floor, the main sanctum sanctorum (Ratna Bedi) houses Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, Goddess Subhadra, and Sudarshan. The temple has been divided into four parts,Grabh Griha, Jagmohan, Natyamandap and Bhog Mandap. In front of the temple’smain entrance, there are two temples dedicated to Mata Laxmi and Mata Bimala. Garudji Maharaj sits in the Jagmohan and the entry point of Gaarbh Griha, door is adorned with Nagbandh and Jaya and Vijaya,Dwarpall stands in front of the door.

On the top of the entrance door of the Garbha Griha, there are deities of Nagabgraha and Mata Laxmi ji. As Parswa Deb, Lord Baraha, Lord Nurshingh, and Lord Baman representing from Satya Yug are worshiped in the body of the Grabhagriha. Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, Goddess Subhadra, and Sudarshan along with Madan Mohan, Shridevi, Bhudevi, and Nila Madhav are being worshiped in the Ratnabedi of Grabhagriha.
The Rosa Sala (Lord’s Kitchen room) is situated in the northern part of the temple. There is a school named Sri Jagannath Sishu Vikash Kendra and apart from this , there are Guest house, Community Hall, Dormitory, and Brahmin’s residential house in the north side of the temple. The climb to the first floor provides devotees with a panoramic view, similar to that of the Shri Jagannath Temple in Puri (Baisi Pahacha). The temple grounds also feature a flower garden dedicated to Lord Jagannath (Shri Jagannath pushpvaatika).

The temple exudes a sense of tranquillity and inner peace. The Neela Chakra majestically crowns the temple, connecting deeply with devotees. As the sun rises every day, the temple shines with golden rays, glorifying it as a divine abode. The temple is managed by the sub committees duly governed by Railway Employees Cultural Association such as Sri Jagannath Temple Committee, Rath Yatra Committee, and Rass Purnima Committee. The Sub-committees organize Rath Yatra and Rass Purnima Mahostav and also distributes Maha Prasad to the devotees every year as per the rituals of the Puri Jagannath Mandir.
For the people residing in Kharagpur town, the temple serves as the main hub for cultural expression and celebration of various festivals. It remains a beloved centre of spirituality, art, and culture for the devotees and public at large.
